GENCODE SDN BHD in Malaysia seeks a QA engineer to plan, execute and govern comprehensive testing across web, mobile and API interfaces. You will work on functional, regression, integration and system testing, identify defects and ensure quality releases.

The role emphasizes automation, AI-assisted QA and collaboration with development teams. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in software QA, strong manual testing skills, and experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.

• Strong experience in manual software testing and test case preparation.
• Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, defect management and software testing methodologies.
• Experience testing web applications, mobile applications and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of AI-assisted software testing techniques and AI-powered QA tools.

2. Test Planning & Documentation

Prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test data.

Review business and technical requirements to identify potential testing requirements and risks.

Maintain proper testing documentation and evidence throughout the software development lifecycle.

Provide test results, QA status and defect reports for project and release reviews.

Ensure testing activities are properly documented and traceable.

Maintain appropriate test evidence to support quality and compliance requirements.

Identify, reproduce and document software defects with clear steps, evidence and expected results.

Work closely with developers to investigate and resolve defects.

Prioritise and track defects based on severity, business impact and release requirements.

Perform root-cause analysis for recurring or critical defects where required.

Monitor outstanding defects and ensure critical issues are addressed before production release.

Analyse defect trends and recommend improvements to reduce recurring defects.

4. Test Automation & AI-Assisted QA

Design, develop and maintainautomated test scripts and test automation frameworksto improve testing efficiency, coverage and consistency.

Identify suitable test cases for automation, particularly repetitive and regression test scenarios.

Utilise automation testing tools such asSelenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium or equivalent tools.

Integrate automated testing intoCI/CD pipelineswhere appropriate.

UtiliseAI-assisted testing and QA toolsto improve test case generation, test data creation, test script development, defect analysis and regression testing.

Apply AI-assisted techniques to improve testing coverage, efficiency and accuracy.

Explore and evaluate new AI-powered testing and automation tools.

Continuously improve automated testing frameworks and methodologies to reduce manual testing effort.

5. API & Integration Testing

Perform testing ofREST APIs, web services and system integrations.

Validate data flow and integration between internal and third-party systems.

Perform positive, negative, boundary and error-handling testing for APIs.

Verify data integrity and expected system behaviour across integrated applications.

Use appropriate API testing tools such asPostman or equivalent.

Support developers in identifying and resolving API and integration issues.

6. Release & Production Quality

Participate in release planning and production deployment activities.

Perform pre-release validation and production smoke testing.

Verify that released applications are functioning according to approved requirements.

Support investigation of production incidents and defects.

Perform post-deployment validation where required.

Provide QA status and release-readiness recommendations based on defined quality criteria.

Ensure critical defects and known risks are properly communicated before production release.

7. QA Process & Continuous Improvement

Continuously improve QA processes, testing methodologies and test coverage.

Establish and maintain standard QA practices across development projects.

Identify opportunities to reduce manual testing effort through automation.

Improve regression testing efficiency through automated testing.

Participate inAgile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning and release planning.

Contribute to improving the overall software development and release process.

Recommend tools and technologies that can improve software quality and testing efficiency.

Work closely withSoftware Developers, Product, UI/UX, Mobile, DevOps, Project Management and business teamsthroughout the software development lifecycle.

Participate in requirement reviews, technical discussions, sprint planning and release planning.

Provide timely feedback on software quality, defects and release risks.

Work with developers to improve application testability and prevent recurring defects.

Communicate testing progress, risks, defects and release readiness to relevant stakeholders.

Promote a quality-focused culture across the development team.

9. Security & Compliance

Support testing activities related to application security and security requirements.

Assist in identifying potential security, data protection and access control issues during testing.

Support security and vulnerability testing where required.

Maintain appropriate testing records and evidence to supportISO 27001 / ISMS requirements.

Support internal and external audits by providing relevant QA documentation and testing evidence.

Follow GenCode's software development, security, quality assurance and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree inComputer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technologyor a related field.

2–5 years of relevant experience in Software QA / Software Testing.

Strong experience in manual software testing and test case preparation.

Good understanding ofSDLC, STLC, defect management and software testing methodologies.

Experience testingweb applications, mobile applications and APIs.

Hands-on experience withtest automation tools and frameworkssuch as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium or equivalent.

Good knowledge ofAI-assisted software testing techniques and AI-powered QA tools.

Experience using AI tools for test case generation, test automation, defect analysis or test optimisation is an advantage.

Good understanding ofAPI testing and REST APIs.

Experience with tools such asJira, Postman, TestRail or equivalentis an advantage.

Experience integrating automated testing intoCI/CD pipelinesis an advantage.

Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development practices is an advantage.
