Job summary

Triplus Industry Sdn Bhd, located in Klang, seeks a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the QA/QC team and oversee the plastics injection molding quality processes. You will manage inspections, CAPA, and supplier and customer quality interactions to ensure products meet stringent requirements.

Job description

1.0 JOB TITLE - QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
2.0 DEPARTMENT - QUALITY ASSURANCE
3.0 REPORTING TO – MANAGING DIRECTOR

The Quality Assurance Manager shall escape significant quality, customer and strategic quality issues to the Managing Director/Top Management when required.

4.0 JOB PURPOSE
  • To lead, manage and continuously improve the Company's Quality Management System and quality performance to ensure that products, processes and services consistently meet customer, regulatory and applicable quality requirements.
  • The position is responsible for managing quality activities across the manufacturing process, with strong technical knowledge and experience in plastic injection and molding processes, including incoming materials, process control, in-process inspection, final inspection, non-conforming products, customer complaints and continuous improvement.
  • The Quality Assurance Manager shall work closely with Production, Engineering, Tooling, Maintenance and other relevant departments to prevent quality issues, reduce rejection and rework, improve process capability and ensure customer satisfaction.
5.0 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
5.1 Education

Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing or other related fields.

Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in Quality Management will be an added advantage.

5.2 Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role will be an advantage.

Strong and practical experience in Plastic Injection and Molding processes is required.

Experience in managing quality issues relating to plastic injection molding, including process defects, dimensional issues, cosmetic defects, material-related defects and molding process variation.

Experience in handling customer complaints, corrective and preventive actions, audits and quality improvement programmes.

Experience in automotive manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.

5.3 Knowledge & Competency

The candidate must demonstrate good knowledge and practical experience in:

  • Plastic Injection and Molding processes;
  • Raw material and resin-related quality requirements;
  • Injection molding process parameters and process variation;
  • Common molding defects and root cause analysis;
  • Incoming, in-process and outgoing quality control;
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) and basic statistical analysis;
  • Problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis;
  • CAPA and continual improvement;
  • Control Plan, Process Flow and other applicable quality documentation;
  • Customer complaint management and customer-specific requirements;
  • Supplier quality management;
  • Calibration and measurement systems;
  • ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements;
  • Internal and external audit processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, RBA and other applicable customer or compliance requirements will be an added advantage.
6.0 AUTHORITY
6.1

Approve and implement quality procedures, work instructions and quality-related controls within the approved Quality Management System.

6.2

Make decisions or provide recommendations on the disposition of non-conforming materials and products in accordance with the Company's approved procedures and authority matrix.

6.3

Initiate containment actions where there is a significant quality risk affecting production or customers.

6.4

Request relevant departments to conduct investigation and corrective actions for quality-related non-conformities.

6.5

Stop or escalate production activities where there is a serious quality concern, subject to the Company's approved escalation and authority process.

7.0 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
7.1 Quality Management System

Establish, implement, maintain and continuously improve the Company's Quality Management System.

Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, where applicable.

Support and coordinate compliance with applicable customer-specific requirements.

Develop and review quality procedures, work instructions and relevant quality documentation.

Monitor the effectiveness of the Quality Management System and recommend improvement actions.

7.2 Plastic Injection & Molding Quality Management

Lead and manage quality activities related to the plastic injection and molding process.

Monitor and control quality performance from incoming materials, molding process, in-process inspection until final/outgoing inspection.

Work closely with Production and Engineering to identify and control process variations affecting product quality.

Analyse recurring molding defects and establish effective corrective and preventive actions.

Ensure appropriate process controls are established for critical product and process characteristics.

Support process improvement activities to reduce rejection, rework, scrap and quality-related losses.

Review and monitor process quality performance and recommend improvements where necessary.

7.3 Incoming, In-Process & Outgoing Quality

Manage the inspection and quality control of incoming materials, in-process products and finished goods.

Ensure inspection standards, sampling plans and acceptance criteria are properly implemented.

Ensure non-conforming materials and products are properly identified, segregated, controlled and disposed of according to approved procedures.

Monitor and improve the effectiveness of quality inspection activities.

Lead investigations into major quality issues and non-conformities.

Ensure appropriate containment actions are implemented to prevent further quality impact.

Drive root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effective.

Monitor recurring rejection and rework issues and initiate improvement actions.

Ensure lessons learned from significant quality issues are communicated to relevant departments.

7.5 Customer Quality & Complaint Management

Lead the investigation and management of customer complaints and quality claims.

Coordinate timely containment, investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Ensure customer complaints are properly documented and responded to within the required timeframe.

Monitor customer quality performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Liaise with customers on quality-related matters when required.

Ensure customer-specific quality requirements are understood and implemented by relevant departments.

7.6 Supplier Quality Management

Monitor supplier quality performance and supplier-related quality issues.

Work with Purchasing and relevant departments to resolve supplier quality concerns.

Review supplier corrective action reports and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions.

Participate in supplier audits or quality assessments where required.

7.7 Audit Management

Plan, coordinate and support internal quality audits.

Prepare and coordinate the Company for customer, certification and external audits.

Monitor audit findings and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.

Ensure audit non-conformities are effectively addressed and recurrence is prevented.

7.8 Measurement & Calibration

Ensure measuring and monitoring equipment used for quality inspection are properly controlled and calibrated.

Monitor calibration status and ensure overdue or non-conforming equipment is appropriately controlled.

Work with relevant departments to maintain an effective calibration system.

7.9 Quality Performance & Improvement

Monitor and analyse quality performance, trends and key quality indicators.

Lead quality improvement projects and cross-functional problem-solving activities.

Identify opportunities to improve process capability, product quality and operational efficiency.

Ensure quality objectives and improvement plans are aligned with the Company's business and customer requirements.

Specific quality targets and KPIs, including rejection, rework, PPM and customer claims, shall be managed under the approved QA Manager KPI/KRA and may be reviewed periodically based on business and customer requirements.

Lead, manage, coach and develop the QA/QC team.

Ensure clear roles, responsibilities and accountability within the Quality Assurance Department.

Identify competency and training needs of QA/QC personnel.

Promote a quality-focused culture and encourage continual improvement across the organisation.

Ensure effective communication between Quality Assurance and other departments.

7.11 Cross-Functional Support

Work closely with Production, Operations, Engineering, Tooling, Maintenance, Purchasing and other relevant departments.

Participate in new product development, product transfer and process improvement activities where required.

Review quality risks relating to new or modified products and processes.

Support the implementation of appropriate quality controls before production launch.

7.12 Compliance & Other Responsibilities

Ensure the department complies with applicable Company policies, procedures and quality requirements.

Support relevant customer, compliance and responsible business requirements, including RBA requirements where applicable.

Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by Management in relation to quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
