Job summary

SCJ ENGINEERING (M) SDN. BHD. is seeking a procurement professional to support manufacturing operations by purchasing and managing material flow. You will identify suppliers, evaluate pricing, issue POs, monitor deliveries, and maintain records.

The role requires 1–3+ years in purchasing, a Diploma/Degree in relevant fields, strong negotiation and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office with a familiarity in SQL. Mandarin skills may be advantageous in some roles.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and maintain a supplier database.
• Conduct market research to find new vendors and advantageous pricing.
• Request, compare, and assess quotations based on price, quality, and delivery.
• Negotiate terms and pricing to achieve cost savings.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) according to company policies.
• Monitor PO acknowledgement and follow up delivery schedules.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate orders to ensure stock availability.
• Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and handle contract renewals or improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions.
• Prepare cost and quality analysis reports.
• Work with internal stakeholders to align procurement and production needs.
• Ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
• Follow company procurement procedures and policies.
• Suggest and support continuous improvements in purchasing processes.

The Role

Support the company’s procurement & supply chain operations by purchasing, and managing the flow of materials and services required for manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and maintain a supplier database.

Conduct market research to find new vendors and advantageous pricing.

Quotation & Negotiation

Request, compare, and assess quotations based on price, quality, and delivery.

Negotiate terms and pricing to achieve cost savings.

Purchase Order Management

Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) according to company policies.

Monitor PO acknowledgement and follow up delivery schedules.

Inventory & Stock Control

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate orders to ensure stock availability.

Liaise with stores/warehouse for goods receipt and resolve discrepancies.

Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers.

Monitor supplier performance and handle contract renewals or improvements.

Reporting & Records

Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions.

Prepare cost and quality analysis reports.

Coordination

Work with internal stakeholders (operations, warehouse, finance) to align procurement and production needs.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Follow company procurement procedures and policies.

Support & Improvements

Suggest and support continuous improvements in purchasing processes.

Experience: Typically 1–3+ years in a purchasing or procurement role (manufacturing/logistics a plus).

Education: Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field (depending on company requirement).

Skills:

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Good analytical and multitasking abilities.

Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with SQL systems is helpful.

Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Language: English is typically required; additional language skills (e.g., Mandarin) may be an advantage for some roles.
