As a Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding Hershey's people, facilities, assets, and operations. You will help maintain a secure and safe working environment by supporting day-to-day security operations, emergency response activities, access control, and incident management. Working closely with security leadership, outsourced security personnel, site teams, and external stakeholders, you will contribute to Hershey's overall security, business continuity, food defense, and safety objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Support daily security operations and coordinate security coverage with outsourced security personnel to ensure effective site protection.
- Monitor and maintain security systems, including CCTV, access control systems, visitor management systems, contractor management systems, key control systems, and fire protection systems.
- Operate and administer the Security Control Room, ensuring security incidents are properly documented, investigated, and escalated when necessary.
- Respond to security and emergency incidents, coordinating with internal response teams and security leadership to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Conduct security inspections, personnel and vehicle searches, patrol activities, and access control checks to maintain a secure facility environment.
- Support security investigations, incident reporting, risk assessments, audits, and compliance activities related to security and food defense programmes.
- Assist with business continuity planning, crisis management exercises, emergency preparedness activities, and security contingency plans.
- Promote a strong safety and security culture by enforcing security procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain positive working relationships with employees, contractors, vendors, government authorities, and other key stakeholders.
- Support ongoing security improvements and identify opportunities to enhance overall site security performance.
About you
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or private security environments.
- Experience leading or coordinating security personnel and security-related operations.
- Knowledge of access control systems, security procedures, visitor management processes, and CCTV monitoring systems.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, incident response, and emergency management activities.
- Familiarity with security regulations, risk assessments, compliance programmes, and food defense or supply chain security initiatives.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and respond to rapidly changing situations.
- Security Certification, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field required.
- Experience within a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Additional security training or professional certifications are preferred.
