Job summary

TR Build Group Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its construction team. You will prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts, while controlling project costs throughout the lifecycle and ensuring alignment with project requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Quantity Surveying, has at least five years of hands-on experience in cost estimation and value engineering, and communicates fluently in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• 5+ years of practical quantity surveying experience in construction.
• Proficient in cost estimation and budget management.
• Strong contract negotiation, risk management, and value engineering skills.
• Fluent in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and English, in speech and writing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.
• Manage project costs, track expenditures, identify variances, and implement controls.
• Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to determine quantities.
• Prepare and administer contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Evaluate and manage project risks, develop mitigation strategies for overruns.
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure collaboration.
• Monitor and report on project financial performance to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and codes of practice.

• Prepare and administer contracts, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms and conditions with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

• Evaluate and manage project risks, identifying potential cost overruns, delays, and other issues, and developing mitigation strategies.

• Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or functionality.

• Prepare and submit progress claims, variations, and final accounts, ensuring accurate documentation and timely payment.

• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

• Monitor and report on project financial performance, providing regular updates to stakeholders on cost status, forecasts, and potential risks.

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice in all aspects of quantity surveying.
