Job summary

Emerson in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Materials Planner to develop and maintain a comprehensive Material Management Plan for project needs. You will coordinate with Project Managers and Engineering to align procurement with schedules, manage pre-order planning, and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery.

You will monitor material movement, maintain tracking tools, report on performance, and mitigate supply risks while ensuring compliance with Emerson policies and international trade

Qualifications

• Strong experience in material planning, production planning, scheduling within a project-driven environment.
• Knowledge of supplier lead times, approval workflows, and import/export logistics processes.
• Expedite orders and collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply challenges.
• Strong analytical skills to track material status, delivery timelines, and project risks through data-driven reporting.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle or SAP.

Responsibilities

• Develop, own, and maintain a comprehensive Material Management Plan for projects, linking purchases to need-by dates and logistics milestones.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering teams to align procurement with schedules and release plans.
• Plan procurement timing considering lead times, approvals, and transportation requirements for project delivery.
• Manage pre-order planning activities, including requisition planning, scheduling, and readiness reviews.
• Expedite open purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely confirmations and delivery.
• Monitor and coordinate material movement including inbound shipments, logistics planning, and site readiness.
• Work with logistics and warehouse teams for receipt, storage, and dispatch of intercompany and buyout materials.
• Maintain material tracking tools: PO status, delivery dates, and risk registers.
• Provide updates and reporting on material performance, delivery metrics, and project risks to stakeholders.
• Identify material supply risks and develop mitigation plans with cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate material impact of project changes and update planning requirements accordingly.
• Support quality-related activities by coordinating inspection schedules to align with timelines.
• Ensure compliance with Emerson policies, ethics, trade requirements, and unit procedures.
• Analyse material planning data to improve visibility, decision-making, and project outcomes.
• Resolve complex material planning challenges through proactive coordination, data analysis, and risk management.
