Job summary

JLG INFRATECH SDN BHD in Malaysia seeks a Project Planning and Management professional to lead fiberisation initiatives. You will oversee site surveys, feasibility studies, network design and implementation, ensuring detailed plans, timelines and budgets.

You will coordinate with engineering, procurement and operations to ensure seamless execution, supervise contractors, monitor safety and quality, and manage budgets and reporting to senior management.

• Identify risks and implement mitigation and corrective actions.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Job description

Project Planning and Management

Lead the planning and execution of fiberisation projects, including site surveys, feasibility studies, network design, and implementation. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring that all aspects of the project are managed effectively. Monitor project progress and performance, implementing corrective actions to address any deviations from the plan. Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project requirements are met.

Coordination and Supervision

Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, procurement, and operations) to ensure seamless execution of fiber network projects. Oversee the work of contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site visits to monitor the quality of work, safety practices, and project milestones.

Network Expansion and Optimization

Develop strategies for expanding the fiber network to new areas, maximizing coverage, and optimizing the use of resources. Evaluate current fiber network performance and recommend improvements or upgrades to enhance reliability and speed. Plan and manage network upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and other stakeholders involved in the fiberisation process. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms and ensure high-quality service delivery. Engage with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and property owners to secure necessary permits and approvals for fiber deployment.

Budget Management

Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring expenses are kept within financial constraints. Monitor costs and implement measures to reduce expenses while maintaining quality standards. Report on financial performance, including cost variances and budget forecasts.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure all fiberisation activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets required specifications and service quality. Address any network issues or faults that arise, coordinating troubleshooting and repair activities.

Reporting and Documentation

Prepare regular reports on project status, network performance, and financial updates for senior management. Maintain accurate documentation of project plans, permits, network maps, and as-built records. Keep up-to-date records of fiber network assets, including routes, equipment, and maintenance activities.

Team Leadership and Development

Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and project managers, providing guidance on fiberisation best practices. Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.

Risk Management

Identify potential risks associated with fiberisation projects and develop mitigation plans. Implement safety protocols to ensure the well-being of team members and the public during fiber network installation.

Special Assignments and Innovation

Participate in strategic initiatives to adopt new technologies or improve fiberisation processes. Lead special projects or pilot programs aimed at enhancing network capabilities or service offerings.
