Job summary

Brenntag in Malaysia seeks a Capex Project Manager to lead and support investment-driven projects across facilities and operations. You will work with engineering, procurement, finance and commercial teams to ensure timely delivery within budget and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 5–7 years of project management experience, a engineering degree, and strong vendor/contractor management skills. Prior GMP/GDP exposure is advantageous for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical) is required.
• 5-7 years of relevant project management experience.

• Demonstrated ability to build strong internal/external stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support evaluation and execution of Capex projects, including investments and expansions.
• Establish project plans, milestones, governance, and reporting.
• Monitor progress against scope, timelines, budgets, quality and deliverables.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, QSHE, Finance, Supply Chain and other functions.
• Support regional APAC budget and expenditure proposals for Capex.
• Propose project delivery models (EPC, EPCM, DB) based on project type and resources.
• Coordinate EPC/EPCM lifecycle activities and handover to operations.
• Prepare regular project updates for management review.
• Lead or support gate reviews per Brenntag PM framework (BPFM).
• Help standardize PM tools, templates, and processes across APAC.

SCOPE OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution & CAPEX Management

• Lead and support the evaluation and execution of Capex projects, including new investments, facility expansions and improvement initiatives and ensure project deliverables are aligned with strategic objectives, timelines and budgetary requirements.
• Establish project plans, milestones, governance routines and reporting mechanisms to ensure effective project execution.
• Contribute to CAPEX assessment and evaluation from a business development perspective, including assessing facility requirements and potential solutions to support business growth.
• Monitor project progress against scope, timelines, budgets, quality and key deliverables.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Engineering, Operations, QSHE, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Development and other functions to ensure smooth project execution
• Support APAC Engineering Assoc/Director and APAC Capex Associate Director to manage the annual Regional CAPEX budget and expenditure proposals.
• Propose different types of project delivery models EPC, EPCM, DB, etc. based on different project types, scopes and resources.
• Coordinate activities across the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) or EPCM (+Management) lifecycle.
• Prepare regular project updates covering milestones, risks, issues, decisions and action items for management review.
• Lead or support project gate reviews based on Brenntag Project Management Framework (BPFM) with global or regional Council of Technical Evaluation (CTE) to ensure appropriate controls are in place from design, construction through to operational handover.
• Support standardization of project management tools, templates and processes. Further develop Brenntag Project Management Framework (BPMF) with global team, align regional approach and own regional Engineering Process
• Provide technical expertise and support operations regarding equipment performance, troubleshooting and site-specific maintenance strategy.
• Define technical standards, document them and share within APAC technical community

Compliance, Risk & Safety

• Lead or support the Management of Change (MOC) during project execution.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable regulatory, quality, safety and environmental requirements, including GMP/GDP where applicable.
• Support the application and maintenance of relevant licenses and regulatory approvals throughout project lifecycle.
• Conduct project risk assessments, identify potential hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Work closely with QSHE/EHS/Regulatory and other relevant functions to address facility, construction and safety-related requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Vendor & Contractor Management

• Source and evaluate quotations from project-related vendors and contractors where required.
• Support commercial negotiations and vendor selection by working closely with Indirect Procurement team (IPR)
• Manage vendors and contractors to ensure work is delivered according to agreed scope, quality, timelines and contractual requirements.
• Build effective working relationships with engineering partners, contractors, suppliers and other external stakeholders

Business & Customer Solutions

• Work closely with business & commercial teams to understand customer and operational requirements in order to translate the requirements into executable technical solutions.
• Support the development of value-added facility and service solutions, such as sampling, storage and related infrastructure requirements.
• Contribute to business development initiatives by providing project, facility and technical perspectives.
• Develop strong relationships with customers, real estate partners, legal teams, government authorities and other relevant stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical), Project Management or a related discipline closely related to the job responsibilities.
• 5-7 years of relevant project management experience, preferably within EPC, facilities, plant engineering, manufacturing, warehouses or CAPEX project environments
• Proven experience managing facility/plant CAPEX projects and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.
• Strong experience in vendor and contractor management.
• Experience working with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Exposure to GMP/GDP, Dangerous Goods (DG) or other regulated environments will be an advantage.
• Experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, FMCG, semiconductor, manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
• Distribution industry experience would be an advantage.
• Experience supporting projects involving regulatory approvals, licenses or government authorities is beneficial.
• Demonstrated effective team-relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• The candidate has successful working experience in technical environments while understanding the needs of manufacturing and operations.
