Job summary

Estek Automation Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Project Manager for Batu Kawan, Penang. This full-time role oversees automation and machine operations projects from inception to completion, managing timelines, budgets, resources and stakeholder communications to ensure on-time delivery and aligned scope.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, monitor risks, and report progress to senior management, while upholding health, safety and quality standards across all phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in manufacturing/automation.
• Strong knowledge of PM methodologies and tools.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Certification (PMP or PRINCE2) is advantageous.
• Experience with automation equipment is preferred.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team at our facility in Batu Kawan, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in overseeing and coordinating automation and machine operations projects from inception to completion. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, resources and stakeholder communications, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within scope. This role is integral to our operational success and directly contributes to our company's growth and client satisfaction objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Planning, scheduling and coordinating all phases of automation and machine operations projects from start to finish
• Managing project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effective delivery of all project outcomes
• Overseeing resource allocation and supervising project team members to ensure productivity and adherence to timelines
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders and internal departments to maintain clear communication and manage expectations
• Identifying and mitigating project risks and implementing corrective actions as needed
• Monitoring project progress and reporting on key metrics and milestones to senior management
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards throughout all project phases
• Conducting project reviews and implementing lessons learned to drive continuous improvement

What we're looking for

• Proven project management experience of at least 5 years, preferably in manufacturing, automation or related logistics environments
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, such as MS Project, Gantt charts and resource planning software
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing cross-functional teams
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels
• Technical understanding of automation systems, machine operations and manufacturing processes
• Proficiency in budget management, cost control and financial reporting
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project challenges
• Relevant project management certification (such as PMP or PRINCE2) is advantageous
• Experience with automation equipment, CNC machines or industrial control systems is preferred
