Job summary

R Systems in Malaysia seeks an experienced Project Manager to join the General Insurance team. You will plan, manage and deliver projects from ideation to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and within scope, aligned with approved business objectives.

The ideal candidate has 7-10 years of PM experience, strong knowledge of General Insurance core and front-end systems, and proven governance, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of Project Manager experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of General Insurance core systems, front-end systems, and interfaces.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks and resources.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the General Insurance team in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering projects from initial ideation through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, within scope, and aligned with approved business objectives.

The role requires strong experience in General Insurance core systems, front-end systems, and system interfaces, combined with proven project governance, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver projects using Waterfall or Hybrid methodologies.
• Plan and manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, and resources.
• Prepare and maintain key project documentation, including business cases, project charters, project plans, test plans, lessons learned, and project artefacts.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with vendors and external partners.
• Engage and influence stakeholders across different organizational levels, including Senior Management.
• Manage project risks, issues, conflicts, dependencies, and change requests through established governance processes.
• Track project schedule and costs against approved plans and implement corrective or preventive actions where required.
• Develop and execute effective project communication and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and governance forums.
• Drive project governance through Project Steering Committee (PSC), Change Control Board (CCB), and Steering Committee forums.
• Manage project financials, including budget utilization, forecasting, drawdown, purchase orders, and variance analysis.
• Manage vendor performance against contractual deliverables and SLAs.
• Ensure project documentation and decision logs are maintained for audit readiness.
• Plan and execute project handover to the BIT Support team and ensure successful project closure.
• Track project benefits realization and post-implementation outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with IT project management methodology, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
• Oversee and manage augmented contract resources supporting strategic projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 7-10 years of experience working as a Project Manager, preferably within insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of General Insurance core systems, front-end systems, and system interfaces is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Malaysia General Insurance products and services is preferred.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
• Strong leadership, influencing, negotiation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to communicate and present effectively to Senior Management and multiple organizational levels.
• Strong conflict management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.Strong understanding of IT risk, project governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• High level of integrity, accountability, adaptability, and teamwork.
