Hitachi Energy Malaysia is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – HV Substation to lead technical planning and execution of complex substation projects. You will bridge gaps between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring designs meet Hitachi’s high standards.
You will provide expert guidance across the lifecycle, translating business needs into precise technical specs, and contributing to risk assessment and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum 5 years in technical engineering roles within substation projects.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage substation products and engineering principles.
- Proficient in CAD, simulation, and programming tools.
- Ability to manage complex projects and priorities under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle, from design to deployment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and define technical requirements and translate them into specifications and architectural designs.
- Oversee development, integration, and testing of solutions, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; lead troubleshooting to resolve complex issues and ensure project continuity.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and provide regular progress reports to project managers and stakeholders.

As an Electrical Design Engineer – HV Substation in Hitachi Energy, you will play a pivotal role in the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects. You will bridge the gap between technical teams and project stakeholders, ensuring solutions are technically sound, meet project requirements, and align with Hitachi's high standards.
You will provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to implementation and post-launch.
You will collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and define technical requirements. Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications and architectural designs.
You will oversee and contribute to the technical development, integration, and testing of solutions, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
You will identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks. Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex technical issues and ensure project continuity.
You will prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, and operational manuals and provide regular technical progress reports to project managers and stakeholders.
You will interface with external vendors and internal Hitachi teams to ensure seamless technical integration and successful project outcomes.
You will implement and enforce technical quality assurance processes, ensuring deliverables meet Hitachi's standards for performance, scalability, and reliability.
You will stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices. Propose and implement innovative technical solutions to enhance project efficiency and outcomes
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
Minimum 5 years in technical engineering roles within substation projects, including system integration, testing, and deployment.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage substation products, engineering principles, and proficiency in tools/software (e.g., CAD, simulation, programming).
Proven ability to manage technical aspects of complex projects and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
