Job summary

Laser Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking a Project Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer to liaise with engineers, gather requirements, and translate them into detailed CAD designs for metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication. You will calculate dimensions, weights, and materials, and describe production methods with suitable equipment and software.

You will ensure regulatory compliance and contribute to manuals.

Qualifications

Requires a recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in metal fabrication is an added advantage.
Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of material properties and design guidelines for plastics and sheet metal.
Understand manufacturing operations and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

Liaise with engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs.
Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and material requirements.
Describe production methods step-by-step including equipment and software.
Create detailed designs with CAD software.
Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow.
Prepare and review rough sketches with the engineering team.
Identify operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality.
Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
Create manuals describing operation, features and maintenance of existing products.
