Job summary

ATS Global in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead large-scale data centre automation and BMS/DCIM projects from planning through handover. You will be the main customer contact, directing a multidisciplinary team of ~50 engineers and managers to deliver on time, within budget and to high safety and quality standards.

The role requires 15+ years of project management, a proven track record in mission-critical environments, and professional certifications.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in a Project Director role.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale BMS or automation projects in mission-critical environments.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams of 50+ people.
• Strong technical understanding of BMS, SCADA, PLCs, HVAC and electrical systems.
• Solid financial and commercial management skills, including responsibility for budgets and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex automation, BMS/DCIM and SCADA projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks and commercial performance.
• Oversee design, integration and commissioning of critical systems (HVAC, power monitoring, environmental monitoring).
• Lead, develop and motivate a large, geographically distributed engineering team.
• Build relationships with customers, contractors, vendors and senior stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and develop future data centre opportunities.

Your Role

As Project Director, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of large data centre automation and BMS/DCIM projects – from initial planning and design through installation, commissioning and final handover.

You will act as the main point of contact for the customer, providing strategic direction and leadership to a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 engineers and managers. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex automation, BMS/DCIM and SCADA projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks and commercial performance.

Your Profile

• 15+ years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in a Project Director role.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale BMS or automation projects in data centres or other mission-critical environments.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams of 50+ people.
• Strong technical understanding of BMS, SCADA, PLCs, HVAC and electrical systems.
• Solid financial and commercial management skills, including responsibility for project budgets and contracts.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation or a related field.
• Professional project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional proficiency in English; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel and spend significant time on customer sites in Malaysia.

Experience in Southeast Asia and certifications such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo CC or Schneider Electric EcoStruxure will be an advantage.
