Overview

Position Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining highly automated and advanced manufacturing equipment necessary to produce our signature product. This role includes training and cross-training to operate and troubleshoot across technologies including heat staking, laser welding, mechanical swaging, PCB handling and testing, robotic automation, metal stamping and bending, form/fill/seal medical packaging, and high-speed discrete component assembly. Production Technicians assist production engineers and liaise with the maintenance team for project management such as yield improvement, standardization of operating procedures including updating work instructions, and continuous improvement in cooperation with different departments. The role focuses on developing Insulet Malaysia into a world-class manufacturing plant with emphasis on reliability engineering, SOPs, results orientation, hands-on activities and operational scorecards. Business needs may necessitate shift adjustments and could require working in shifts. Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ: PODD) is an innovative medical device company dedicated to making the lives of people with diabetes easier. Through its OmniPod Insulin Management System, Insulet seeks to expand insulin pump therapy for people with insulin-dependent diabetes. Responsibilities
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities delegated by the production engineer with respect to the ongoing task and implementation of the improvement plan across the entire production process.
  • Follow up the trend by machine process scraps to optimize production performance as required by production engineers.
  • Conduct material-side studies to evaluate material variation against production performance.
  • Take readings and collect data to assess machine-to-machine variation based on daily data.
  • Review the manufacturing scorecard with the production team regularly to follow up on improvement action items.
  • Represent the production department to follow up on verification builds or engineering studies.
  • Able to work in small groups and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and implement collective corrective actions.
  • Follow up production issues with the production team on a 24/7 basis as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in engineering discipline, preference in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a production technician or process technician.
  • Experience on high-volume manufacturing lines in a cleanroom environment.
  • Data-driven decision-making and results-oriented mindset.
  • Multi-language fluency (English, Malay minimum).

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with cGMP guidelines and ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 regulations.
  • Proficiency in CAD and standard computer/MS Office systems; familiarity with ERP systems; MES is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in setup and operation of automated production equipment.
  • Initiative and drive for continual improvement.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced/high-volume production environment.
  • Previous experience with highly automated discrete component assembly equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with technologies such as laser welding, heat staking, ultrasonic welding, and ESD-sensitive devices is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a start-up production environment is a plus.
  • Experience working with HMIs.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing instrumentation such as optical gauging, video microscopes, micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand and bend up to 12 hours a day.
  • Required to lift above shoulder level frequently and below waist occasionally.
  • Pre-employment medical health check required / Fit to work for this job by a doctor.
  • No history of back pain, neck pain, cervical or other related issues.
  • No history of drug use; regular checks may be performed.
