Job summary

Plexus in Malaysia (Penang) is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead SMT and electronics assembly operations, drive KPIs including OTD, FPY, and OEE, and champion Lean transformation on the shop floor.

You will mentor supervisors, coordinate cross-training, and partner with Process Engineering to resolve bottlenecks, implement 6S, and ensure IPC-A-610 compliance in a fast-paced EMS environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Industrial Management.
• 10 years of progressive production leadership in PCBA/EMS manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on SMT knowledge: screen printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow profiling, AOI, X-ray.
• Solid IPC-A-610, Lean/Six Sigma, and modern MES/ERP platform expertise.

Responsibilities

• Drive SMT excellence: manage daily operations across SMT and mechanical assembly lines, hitting KPIs (OTD, FPY, OEE, scrap reduction, labor efficiency).
• Lead and inspire by coaching supervisors and operators; drive cross-training for flexibility.
• Master quality and RCCA: ensure zero-defect quality with IPC and customer standards.
• Execute lean initiatives: 6S, GEMBA, SMED, continuous improvement to eliminate waste.
• Solve technical challenges with Process Engineering to remove bottlenecks, downtime, and schedule changes.

What You’ll Do

• Drive SMT Excellence: Provide daily operations across SMT and mechanical assembly lines, hitting target KPIs across OTD, FPY, OEE, scrap reduction, and labor efficiency.

• Lead & Inspire: Empowering supervisors and operators through continuous coaching and development while driving cross-training programs for maximum flexibility.

• Master Quality & RCCA: Driving zero-defect quality through rigorous RCCA and uncompromising IPC, RoHS, and customer standards.

• Execute Lean Initiatives: Drive 6S layout improvements, GEMBA walks, SMED/changeover optimizations, and continuous improvement projects to eliminate waste.

• Solve Technical Challenges: Partner with Process Engineering to solve complex production bottlenecks, equipment downtime, and high-mix/high-volume scheduling changes.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Industrial Management required.

• Experience: 10 years of progressive production leadership in PCBA / EMS manufacturing environments.

• SMT Expertise: Hands-on technical knowledge of screen printing, SPI, pick-and-place systems, reflow profiling, AOI, and X-ray inspection.

• Standards & Systems: Solid expertise in IPC-A-610 standards, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and modern MES/ERP platforms.
