Job summary

Time Phoria Malaysia is seeking a driven NPD specialist to lead new makeup product development from ideation to launch. You will conduct market research on cosmetics trends, consumer needs, and competitors, translating insights into compelling product concepts.

You will plan and run focus groups, coordinate formulation testing, and work with marketing, design, packaging, and regulatory teams to ensure timely, high-quality launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, business, product development, cosmetic science, or related field.
• 3+ years in cosmetics/beauty, NPD, or product development.
• Experience launching new cosmetics or makeup products.
• Experience in market research, formulation testing, consumer research, or FGD preferred.
• Strong understanding of beauty and makeup market, trends and competitors.
• Ability to translate consumer insights into commercial product concepts.
• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct new product market research on cosmetics and makeup trends, consumer preferences, competitors, and market opportunities.
• Lead and implement new makeup and beauty product development from ideation to launch.
• Develop product concepts, portfolios, USPs, claims, and briefs based on trends and needs.
• Plan and conduct FGDs to gather insights and validate concepts.
• Coordinate formulation and product testing, sample evaluation, and refinement.
• Analyze feedback and testing results to support product improvement and future NPD.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Design, Packaging, Regulatory, suppliers and stakeholders to coordinate development and timelines.
• Monitor NPD progress to meet quality, timelines, and launch requirements.
• Conduct competitor benchmarking and stay updated on local and international makeup trends and innovations.

Job description

• Lead and implement new makeup and beauty product development, from ideation and concept development to formulation testing and launch.
• Develop product concepts, portfolios, USPs, claims, and product briefs based on market trends and consumer needs.
• Plan and conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGD) internally and externally to gather consumer insights and validate product concepts.
• Coordinate formulation and product testing, including sample evaluation, feedback collection, and product refinement.
• Analyze consumer feedback, market insights, and testing results to support product improvement and future NPD.
• Work closely with Marketing, Design, Packaging, Regulatory, suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate product development, samples, specifications, and timelines.
• Monitor NPD progress to ensure projects meet quality, timeline, and launch requirements.
• Conduct competitor benchmarking and stay updated on local and international makeup trends, beauty innovations, ingredients, textures, and consumer preferences.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Product Development, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cosmetics, beauty, makeup, NPD, or product development.
• Proven experience in developing and launching new cosmetics or makeup products.
• Experience in new product market research, formulation testing, consumer research, or FGD is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the beauty and makeup market, consumer preferences, trends, and competitors.
• Strong product and marketing sense, with the ability to translate consumer insights into commercially viable product concepts.
• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Passionate about makeup, beauty trends, and product innovation.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
