Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join its aerospace/high-precision manufacturing division in Malaysia. You will interpret customer drawings, develop manufacturing processes, design tooling, and manage ECNs and PPAP documentation.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of three years' experience in mechanical manufacturing or metal component machining, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or related sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing or metal component machining.
• Experience in aerospace, precision manufacturing, semiconductors, or automotive parts is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).
• Familiar with ISO or AS quality systems and APQP core tools.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, DFM, DOE, 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis, and GD&T.
• Familiar with CNC systems.
• Knowledge of metal cutting processes, tooling selection, machining principles, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quotations for new products and engineering change requests.
• Interpret customer drawings and specifications to develop manufacturing processes.
• Design tooling and fixtures and monitor their fabrication progress.
• Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and technical product changes.
• Develop and maintain PPAP documents, including PFMEA and Control Plans.
• Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Create tool lists, machining programs, and process models for production.
• Support risk assessments and provide technical solutions for manufacturing issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve production abnormalities.
• Maintain technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance to production teams and support external suppliers.
