Job summary

Aluminium Company of Malaysia (ALCOM) is seeking a senior procurement leader to oversee metal, non-metal and import logistics, driving cost savings and long-term supply agreements.

You will manage supplier relationships, lead cost estimating teams, and ensure timely delivery under compliant terms, leveraging strong negotiation and leadership skills to achieve company objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in business, operations, or logistics.
• 10+ years of working experience in procurement or related field.
• Managerial experience of 5+ years preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen and proven high-value contract negotiator.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership, networking, collaboration and team-working abilities.
• Experience in project leadership/change management or sustainable procurement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all procurement activities (Metal, Non Metal and Import Logistics).
• Sourcing, vetting, and managing relationships with metal suppliers, mills, and service centers.
• Negotiating purchase agreements and contracts, focusing on cost savings and long-term supply.
• Minimize risk exposure in contracts and maximize opportunities through supplier management.
• Ensure timely supply of goods and services via acceptable terms.
• Lead and develop purchasing and cost estimating teams to achieve objectives and drive improvement.
• Ensure all purchases are managed per corporate, company and government policies.
• Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics for metals.
• Identify potential suppliers, interview vendors, negotiate agreements, and manage contracts.
• Establish departmental objectives and assess direct reports against KPIs.
• Provide reports on target achievements and recommend actions.

• Ensure that goods and services are supplied on time via acceptable terms and conditions.
• Lead and develop high-performing purchasing and cost estimating teams to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead and to ensure all purchases are manage via best practices according to Corporate, Company and Government Policies and to the best interest of the company and its stakeholders.
• Analyzing market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics for various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and others.
• Identify potential suppliers, conduct vendor interviews, negotiate agreements, and manage contracts.
• Establish departmental objectives and assess direct reports' performance against KPIs.
• Provide reports on target achievements and recommend necessary actions.

Requirement

• Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Business Management, Operation Management, Logistic/Transportation or equivalent.
• At least 10 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

• Preferable candidate with 5 years of managerial experience.
• Strong commercial acumen and accomplished negotiator of high-value strategic contracts.

• Experience in Project Leadership or Change Management with long-term plan development or Sustainable Procurement is an added advantage.
