Job summary

ams OSRAM is seeking a Process Development Senior Staff Engineer in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. You will lead development and optimization of molding and casting processes for new product projects, ensuring cost, quality and schedule targets are met.

The role requires strong background in LED/semiconductor molding and process engineering. You will mentor junior staff, transfer know-how to manufacturing, select equipment, and contribute to EOL technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in the semiconductor industry.
• 5+ years in LED/semiconductor molding and casting processes.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor/LED manufacturing processes and process engineering principles.
• Experience in process development, statistics and problem solving.
• Six Sigma belt certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop or optimize molding and casting processes for new product development to meet cost, quality and schedule targets.
• Support EOL technology roadmap and building block activities.
• Select equipment meeting project cost, quality and timeline targets.
• Share and transfer technical know-how within R&D and to Manufacturing teams.
• Provide technical guidance or coaching to junior staff.
• Participate in engineering samples, pre-series and ramp-up builds to fulfill customer orders.

Your new responsibilities

• Develop or optimize Molding and Casting processes for new product development project to meet project cost, quality and timeline targets.
• Participate and support EOL processes tehcnology roadmap and building block activities.
• Equipment selection which meet project cost, quality and timeline target.
• Share and transfer technical know how within R&D and to Manufacturing team.
• Provide technical guidance or job coaching to junior supporting staff.
• Participate in engineering sample, pre-series and ramp-up build to fulfill custoemr order.

What we look for

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in LED or semiconductor molding and casting processes.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor/LED manufacturing processes and process engineering principles.
• Experience in process development, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Proficiency in Minitab is an added advantage.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement skills.
