Job summary

Greatech Group in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Engineer to lead planning and optimization of maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment. You will develop schedules, create work instructions, and coordinate with technicians to ensure uptime.

You will analyze downtime data, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement continuous improvement projects, reading electrical schematics and drawings, and training maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and industrial machinery is essential.
• Experience in setup, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, servo motors, pneumatics, and robotics is advantageous.
• Ability to analyze equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Developing preventive maintenance schedules (annual, monthly, weekly, daily).
• Creating maintenance work instructions, checklists, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
• Identifying critical equipment and defining maintenance frequency.
• Assigning and monitoring maintenance tasks for technicians.
• Supporting technicians during complex maintenance and repair activities.
• Conducting root-cause analysis for repeated breakdowns and major failures.
• Coordinating with Production, Quality, Engineering, EHS, and external suppliers.
• Planning spare-part requirements and supporting inventory control.
• Conducting technical training and skill development for maintenance staff.
• Monitoring KPIs like downtime, response time, PM completion rate, and recurring failure rate.
• Leading equipment reliability and continuous-improvement projects.
• Maintaining maintenance history and technical documentation.

• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documents.
