Job summary

SmartHire by SEEK is seeking a Planner in Penang to take a central role in production planning within a precision manufacturing environment. You will manage schedules, coordinate new products, secure materials, and monitor delivery progress to ensure on-time fulfilment.

The role requires 3+ years of production planning experience, strong ERP/MRP knowledge, and proficiency in Mandarin and English to liaise with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of production planning experience in manufacturing, with sheet metal, stamping, machining or electrical assembly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools to support reliable planning.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, lead times and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Build production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts and available resources.
• Coordinate new products with manufacturing, R&D and assembly teams for prototypes and launches.
• Track delivery progress and adjust schedules to support on-time delivery.
• Secure materials with procurement and warehouse to ensure availability.
• Control inventory by monitoring stock levels and initiating material requisitions.
• Validate customer requirements to support accurate planning.
• Keep stakeholders informed of production status, lead times, delays and issues.
• Optimize capacity by analysing efficiency and resource utilisation.
• Drive continuous improvements across planning processes.
• Maintain planning records including schedules, material usage and order tracking.
• Report production performance, delivery adherence and resource utilisation.
