Job summary

Elia Grid International (EGI) in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our global energy consultancy. You will contribute to power system planning, model definition, and studies that support RES integration, BESS optimization, and transmission investments, while collaborating with cross-border teams.

The role includes steady-state and dynamic analysis, preparing reports, and supporting business development through client relationships.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in Power System Planning (Master planning, pre-feasibility of new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, sizing state-of-the-art technological solutions,…)
• Mastering power system simulation tools (PowerFactory, PSSE)

Responsibilities

• Analyze planning principles and define power system modelling approaches.
• Define power system models and validate them against data.
• Support RES integration and BESS optimization, and inform transmission investments.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across borders.
• Prepare reports presenting analysis results and insights.
• Support business development by building client relationships and proposals.

Typical Activities Involve (but Are Not Limited To)

• Analysis and definition of planning principles;
• Power System Model definition and validation;
• Enhancing methodologies to plan power systems facing massive RES & BESS integration, demand evolution and optimisation of transmission investments;
• Mastering links with technico-economic models to define critical operating points;
• Steady-state analysis (load flow, short circuit calculations, hosting capacity, etc);
• Dynamic stability analysis (frequency, transient & voltage stability..);
• Support the analysis and evaluation of grid reliability and security (eg capacity calculation, balancing, operational planning..);
• Writing reports presenting the results of the analysis;
• Support the company's business development teams in identifying and pursuing opportunities by establishing trusted relationships with our clients and developing of proposals.

Your responsibilities will be decided based on your competencies and expertise and will be discussed during your interviews with managers.

Your profile

• Master's degree in Engineering;
• 3+ years of experience in Power System Planning (Master planning, pre-feasibility of new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, sizing state-of-the-art technological solutions,…);
• Mastering power system simulation tools (PowerFactory, PSSE)
• Team Player
• Good oral presentation skills
• Fluent in English;
• Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
