Job summary

A global power systems consultancy is looking for a Power System Planning Expert based in Kuala Lumpur. This role involves analyzing planning principles, enhancing methodologies for integrating renewable energy, and supporting grid reliability evaluations. Ideal candidates should have a Master's degree in Engineering and over 3 years of experience in power system planning. Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Power System Planning including integration of renewable energy systems.
• Experience in pre-feasibility studies of new transmission investments.
• Competence in defining planning principles and steady-state analysis.
• Strong teamwork and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and define planning principles.
• Enhance methodologies for power systems facing RES integration.
• Support the evaluation of grid reliability and security.
• Collaborate with techno-economic models to define critical operating points.
• Perform steady-state and dynamic stability analyses; assess grid reliability and security.

Typical activities involve (but are not limited to):

• Analysis and definition of planning principles;
• Power System Model definition and validation;
• Enhancing methodologies to plan power systems facing massive RES & BESS integration, demand evolution and optimisation of transmission investments;
• Mastering links with technico-economic models to define critical operating points;
• Steady-state analysis (load flow, short circuit calculations, hosting capacity, etc);
• Dynamic stability analysis (frequency, transient & voltage stability..);
• Support the analysis and evaluation of grid reliability and security (eg capacity calculation, balancing, operational planning..);
• Writing reports presenting the results of the analysis;
• Support the company’s business development teams in identifying and pursuing opportunities by establishing trusted relationships with our clients and developing of proposals.

Your responsibilities will be decided based on your competencies and expertise and will be discussed during your interviews with managers.

Your profile

• Master's degree in Engineering;
• 3+ years of experience in Power System Planning (Master planning, pre-feasibility of new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, sizing state-of-the-art technological solutions,…);
• Mastering power system simulation tools (PowerFactory, PSSE)
• Team Player
• Good oral presentation skills
• Fluent in English;
• Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.

Location
