SUPER MICRO COMPUTER MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. seeks a quality engineer to lead initiatives improving product quality and manufacturing processes. You will coordinate IQC activities, apply IPC-A-610 standards, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.
Responsibilities include analyzing data, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions across PCBA manufacturing stages to strengthen overall supplier and customer satisfaction.
Drive power supply quality by leading quality improvement initiatives, analyzing production and supplier-related issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure PCBA quality, IPC-A-610 compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Lead and support quality improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, improve manufacturing processes, and resolve quality-related issues through structured problem-solving methodologies.
Plan, coordinate, and participate in Total Quality Management initiatives to promote operational excellence and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
Support and oversee Incoming Quality Control (IQC) activities, including the application of AQL standards, component inspection methods, and quality verification processes to ensure material compliance.
Leverage knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT, DIP, Assembly, Testing, and Packing, to identify quality risks, improve production performance, and support manufacturing excellence. Experience in these areas will be considered an added advantage.
Apply or support the implementation of IPC-A-610 standards and other applicable quality requirements when evaluating product workmanship and resolving PCBA quality issues. Familiarity with electronic manufacturing standards is preferable.
Analyze production quality data and failure trends, collaborating with Production, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and other cross-functional teams to identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and monitor improvement effectiveness.
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities by utilizing structured quality methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, PDCA) to reduce recurring defects and improve product reliability.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection criteria, quality reports, failure analysis records, and corrective action documentation to support compliance and operational excellence.
Work collaboratively with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to address quality concerns, improve product performance, and strengthen overall customer satisfaction.
Participate in internal quality audits, process reviews, and new product introduction (NPI) activities, supporting the implementation of quality standards and best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
The following technical knowledge or experience will be considered an added advantage:
Familiarity with quality audit activities, including Internal Audit and Supplier Audit.
Experience or exposure to SOP and Work Instruction (WI) development or continuous improvement.
Working knowledge of quality improvement tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram.
Understanding of quality inspection processes, including IQC, IPQC, FQC, and OQC.
Knowledge of sampling plans and quality standards, such as AQL or equivalent inspection methods.
Experience in identifying and analyzing common PCBA manufacturing defects is preferred.
Familiarity with measurement and testing equipment, such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, LCR Meter, or Hi-pot Tester, is considered an added value.
Exposure to process improvement methodologies, such as Process Mapping or Value Stream Mapping, is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer, Communication, or a related discipline) is preferred; a Master’s degree will be considered an added advantage, with around 5 years of relevant engineering or quality-related experience being desirable.
Around 3 years of hands-on or practical exposure in areas such as customer support, customer quality, product quality engineering, or product test engineering is preferable and viewed as an advantage to the candidate.
Working knowledge or exposure to quality tools, basic statistics, and structured problem-solving techniques is desirable and considered value-added.
Experience or familiarity with microelectronics or SMT processes is preferred and will be treated as an added advantage.
Experience or exposure in supporting quality audits (e.g., internal, process, or supplier audits) and follow-up actions is preferable and considered an added value.
Familiarity with SOP or Work Instruction (WI) development, review, or improvement activities is desirable, with hands-on involvement being an advantage to the candidate.
Ability or willingness to work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Engineering, Supplier Quality) to support quality improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making is preferred.
