Job summary

Omya Malaysia is seeking a Production Operator for the Granulation plant. You will assist the Production and Process Manager, operate and monitor the granulation line, and ensure the process runs safely and efficiently while meeting product specifications.

You will supervise packers and forklift drivers, perform routine inspections, conduct sampling tests, update SAP with machine data, and support maintenance. The role requires rotating shifts, physical work, and strong QSHE awareness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of industrial/manufacturing experience in a chemical or related field.
• Experience in a maintenance role for manufacturing operations.
• Basic computer skills; knowledge of SAP and QA/QC is a plus.
• Good communication in local language.

Responsibilities

• Assist Production and Process Manager in the overall operation of Granulation production.
• Operate, monitor, control, and inspect granulation processes and plant equipment.
• Supervise packers and forklift drivers on site.
• Record machine running parameters and production output in SAP.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks and support maintenance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with QSHE and corporate safety standards.
• Maintain good housekeeping and orderly plant premises.
• Assist in problem solving to identify root causes of product nonconformance.

Job description

Key Accountabilities
Production Duties

• Oversee and be responsible in assisting production manager/ executive for the overall operation of Granulation plant’s production and processes
• To operate, monitor, control, and to conduct site routine inspection for the process of manufacturing Granulation products
• Well verse and able to show high competency of the entire Granulation manufacturing processes, ranging from product’s feeding, milling, classifying, coating treatment, finished products packing and storage, process control interlocking, process equipment limitations, alarms, and etc
• Ensure production to meet & achieve sales requirement for various types of products.
• To ensure plant is operated according to Omya regulatory practice, i.e. safety operations, cost efficient, high production throughput, minimum plant downtime, and etc.
• To monitor and record each plant machine running parameters and production output.
• To carry out product sampling test in order to ensure products are produced within the product specifications.
• To assign and supervise packers and forklift drivers
• To assist in the determination root cause of product nonconformance and segregation and disposition through reworks.
• To carry out daily equipment inspection works, i.e. visual inspection of motors and mobile equipment, stearic acid consumption, motor oil level, rectification of plant operation alarm, and etc.
• To repair if possible to plant equipment, instrumentation in order to maintain plant operability when maintenance personnel is not available
• To assist maintenance to carry out or perform necessary maintenance activities when required or instructed
• To assist in maintaining plant premises in a good housekeeping condition and in an orderly manner
• To assist and carry out all operation’s trouble-shooting works when required or instructed
• To undertake, abide, and carry out any relevant assignments directed by the management of the company.
• To ensure all maintenance related matter is updated into SAP system.
• Ensuring all plant machine operator, and worker working hours is within Omya allowable range. Plan and arrange the plant operation according allowable head count.
• To conduct monthly daily , weekly or monthly stock count and record to ensure all consumable and stock item kept in plant is sufficient for continues production activity.
• To monitor and record the finished goods level available in warehouse.
• Supervise and plan loading activity keep record and generate daily loading report submitted to interested department.
• Supervise goods receiving and storage – updating stock report and generate daily stock report to be submitted to interested department.
• Reorder & restock consumable (i.e :.LPG, Ligno ,Glycerine & etc.) and stock item (i.e.: FSS roles, bags & etc) based on the agreeable stock volume.
• Preform daily, weekly or monthly SAP update as require by management based on the approved SAP module access provided.
• To perform quality control test of products.
• To assist and perform maintenance works (corrective & preventive).
• To preform daily warehouse activity, i.e, goods received , good dispatch and etc

Quality, Safety, Health and Environment

• Responsible for housekeeping in the plant and maintaining a clean, safe and clutter free work environment.
• Know the significant quality, safety & health, and environmental (QSHE) aspects/ impacts associated with work, including relevant legal/ other requirements and emergency preparedness and response.
• Understand and use the Corporate Sustainability Policy and the Integrated Management System (IMS) as guidance to continuously improve the QSHE aspects of job.

Education

Experience

Knowledge and skills

• Computer skills and laboratory experience are preferred.
• Basic chemistry knowledge preferred.
• Ability to communicate efficiently verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors and customers.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends, including operating facility alone on nights and weekends.
• Ability to work inside and occasionally outside exposed to heat, cold, dirt, and noise.
• Possess basic skill in checking and competence in operation of forklift
• Knowledgeable and experience in basic plant maintenance, inspection and routine operation checking from aspect of process, equipment, instrumentation and control
