Job summary

Greenverse in Malaysia is seeking a Plant Manager to lead the plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance across all functions. You will oversee engineering, maintenance, safety, environmental compliance, and cost control, drive continuous improvement, manage team capacity and budget, and coordinate with multiple departments to achieve business objectives.

• 5–10 years in industrial plant operations.

• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin an advantage.
• Knowledge of DOE requirements, Environmental Quality Act 1974, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• CePSWAM or CePIETSO certification preferred.

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the plant, ensuring safe, efficient, cost-effective, and compliant operations. The role oversees plant operations, manpower, maintenance, environmental compliance, safety, and continuous improvement to achieve the company's operational and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Plant Management

Manage and oversee the daily operations and overall performance of the plant.

Ensure plant activities meet operational, quality, safety, environmental, and company requirements.

Monitor plant performance and take corrective action when required.

2. Operations & Process Management

Oversee scheduled waste receiving, treatment, processing, and storage activities.

Monitor plant capacity, throughput, downtime, chemical consumption, and operational efficiency.

Identify and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce operating costs.

3. Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974, DOE requirements, scheduled waste regulations, licence conditions, and company procedures.

Ensure proper handling and documentation of scheduled waste.

Coordinate with QHSE on environmental, safety, and regulatory matters.

4. Safety Management

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Ensure proper response to accidents, incidents, environmental emergencies, and other operational risks.

Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

5. Manpower & Team Management

Lead and manage engineers, supervisors, operators, technicians, and other plant personnel.

Plan manpower requirements and ensure effective workforce allocation.

Monitor employee performance, discipline, competency, and training needs.

6. Maintenance & Equipment

Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and availability.

Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize breakdowns and operational disruptions.

7. Cost & Budget Control

Monitor plant operating costs and resource utilization.

Assist in preparing and managing the plant budget.

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety, quality, or compliance.

8. Reporting & Cross-Department Coordination

Monitor key plant performance indicators and prepare regular management reports.

Work closely with QHSE, Laboratory, Maintenance, Logistics, Finance, HR, and Business Development to support plant operations.

Report significant operational, safety, environmental, or manpower issues to senior management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or related field.

Minimum 5–10 years' experience in industrial plant operations, process plants, chemical plants, waste management, or related industries.

At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

Language Skill: English, Bahasa Malaysia. Proficient in Mandarin is added advantage.

Good knowledge of plant operations, process control, maintenance, and operational cost management.

Good understanding of DOE requirements, Environmental Quality Act 1974, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

CePSWAM or CePIETSO certification is highly preferred.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard reporting systems.

Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Chinese is an added advantage.

Able to work under pressure and in an industrial plant environment.
