Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Sdn Bhd is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Selangor to ensure accurate dispensing, proper labeling, and patient counselling for medications. The role emphasizes adherence to regulatory requirements, sterile preparation, and accurate ward stock delivery.

Qualifications include a Diploma in Pharmacy or a dispensing certificate. Hospital pharmacy experience is advantageous, but fresh graduates may be considered for the position.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Pharmacy or dispensing certificate from a recognized institution.
• Experience in hospital pharmacy is an advantage; fresh graduates may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all prescriptions dispensed to the correct patient with accurate labels and medications.
• Review prescription appropriateness and verify with prescriber; seek pharmacist advice when required.
• Counsel patients on medication administration and storage conditions (where applicable).
• Provide medication alternatives or suggestions when appropriate; supply basic information on indications, dosage, adverse effects, etc.
• Store medications according to recommended conditions to maintain efficacy and quality.
• Document daily transactions in required registers (Poison, Dangerous Drug, Psychotropic, Codeine & Pseudoephedrine) per regulations.
• Ensure quality and sterility of medications; prepare formulations per Good Manufacturing Practice and aseptic techniques.
• Ensure ward stocks are accurately supplied to wards and departments.
• Meet standards and customer expectations; perform other duties to meet company goals and department objectives.

Education

Diploma in Pharmacy

Job description

1. Ensure all prescriptions are accurately dispensed to the correct patient at all time

• Check all medications supplied are according to the prescription with accurate labels and correct physical medications
• Review appropriateness of prescription and verify with prescriber if necessary. Seek advice from pharmacist where required
• Counsel patient on proper medication administration & technique (where applicable) and advise on appropriate storage condition
• Provide alternatives or suggestions on medication treatment where appropriate
• Provide basic medicine information e.g. indication, dosage, adverse effects, method of administration, etc.

2. Ensure medications are stored according to recommended conditions to maintain efficacy and quality

• Adhere to recommended storage requirements when handling medication in the pharmacy at all times

3. Accurate documentation to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and accreditation standards

• Document all daily transactions completely and accurately in the required manner e.g. Poison Register, Dangerous Drug Register, Psychotropic Drug Register, Codeine & Pseudoephedrine Register, in accordance to regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

4. Ensure quality and sterility of medication

• Adhere and prepare formulation in accordance to Good Manufacturing Practice e.g. wearing of Personal Protective Equipment during manufacturing.
• Perform cytotoxic drug reconstitution using aseptic technique in accordance to procedure.

5. Ensure all ward stocks are accurately supplied to wards and departments

• Prepare and supply all ward stocks according to requirements.

6. Ensure standards & customers' expectations are met

7.Perform any other duties assigned to meet company and department goals and objectives

Qualifications & Experience
