Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimise disruption and failures.
  • Maintain GMP-compliant SOPs, documentation, and change control where applicable.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production personnel on equipment operation.
  • Participate in improvement projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Pharmaceutical Engineer (Packing) is responsible for the setup, verification, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of critical pharmaceutical packaging machinery and production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production output in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.

The role focuses on the operation and maintenance of high-speed blister packing lines, automated cartoners, and related packaging equipment to achieve optimal machine performance, product quality, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Setup, Operation & Troubleshooting

  • Set up, verify, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot critical pharmaceutical packaging machinery, including high-speed blister packing lines and automated cartoners.
  • Ensure machines are running efficiently to achieve maximum production output while maintaining product quality and compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and implement corrective actions to resolve machine issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Minimise unscheduled downtime to achieve production targets and ensure smooth manufacturing operations.

2. Machine Performance & Process Improvement

  • Take ownership of blister packaging line operations to ensure optimum machine performance, productivity, and quality.
  • Monitor and analyse machine performance to identify improvement opportunities and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper machine handling skills among machine specialists operating primary and secondary packaging lines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machine efficiency, reliability, and productivity.

3. Preventive Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance activities to minimise production disruption and prevent equipment breakdowns.
  • Ensure machinery, change parts, and related equipment are properly maintained and managed.
  • Monitor and control machinery, spare parts, and change parts inventory costs.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and availability.

4. Documentation & GMP Compliance

  • Maintain and operate machinery according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
  • Prepare daily and periodic reports on machine performance, production achievements, issues, limitations, and improvement actions.
  • Develop and update equipment-related SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation.

5. Training & Technical Support

  • Conduct technical training for internal employees on pharmaceutical machinery operation and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and update training materials based on operational and competency requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel to enhance machine operation skills.

6. Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in improvement projects and support departmental initiatives as required.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the management.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum Degree in Engineering (Electronic, Mechatronic, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical engineering, particularly in blister packing machine operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or servicing.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical packaging machinery such as Hoong-A 400, Hoong-A 600R, or similar high-speed blister packing and cartoning machines will be an added advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in machine troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimisation.
  • Good understanding of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in blister line operations and machine performance improvement.
  • Ability to develop pharmaceutical machinery SOPs, conduct training, and prepare training materials.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work on shifts.
