Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Diploma-qualified engineer to support production on a packaging line. You will set up machines, monitor schedules, and drive line performance with a focus on quality and efficiency.

The role requires Lean experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work in shift rotations, with emphasis on cross-functional teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience in a packaging production line.
  • Proficient in MS Office and quick to learn new software or system applications as needed.
  • Familiarity with SAP OPO module and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and knowledge of Lean Methodology are advantageous.
  • Strong communication and writing skills in both Malay and English.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and takes ownership of responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented, results-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing and able to work in a shift rotation schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Set up production machines (filler, labeler, capper, sealer) and perform tooling changes according to the production schedule, while monitoring operational performance to meet planned capacity.
  • Ensure daily line operations run as scheduled, maintain an efficient Track and Trace system, and troubleshoot issues promptly. Key metrics include 100% schedule adherence, zero unplanned downtime, issue resolution within 15 minutes, ≥99% system accuracy, and achieving target production throughput.
  • Conduct routine machine checks, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration. Identify and resolve mechanical or electrical issues, coordinating with maintenance teams for major repairs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform in-line quality inspections, such as visual defect checks, fill weight verification, and confirmation that labeling and packaging meet specifications.
  • Record and report any quality deviations or machine issues, collaborating on corrective actions with relevant teams.
  • Take responsibility for production performance metrics, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), asset efficiency, raw material yield, and product give-away, ensuring minimal product loss and accurate filling.
  • Facilitate smooth coordination of tasks such as sample analysis, packaging material management, machine start-up/shutdown, and troubleshooting, working closely with Lab, Process, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to resolve interdependent issues efficiently.
