Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Electronics Technician for functional testing, diagnosing and repairing PCB assemblies to meet performance and quality standards. You will use schematics, test fixtures and various diagnostic tools to identify faults and repair down to the component level.

You will document failure modes and repair actions, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to test process improvements in a high-mix, low-volume contract manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in electronics/telecom or related engineering field.
• 2+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic board assemblies.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit principles.
• Able to read schematics and PCB layout drawings.
• Hands-on soldering, desoldering and rework of components.
• Experience with test instruments: oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzer, power supplies.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 standards.
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Experience in a contract manufacturing or high-mix, low-volume environment.
• Familiarity with automated test systems or boundary scan tools.
• RF or high-speed digital circuits is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform rudimentary and functional testing on PCB assemblies using test fixtures and test system.
• Troubleshoot and repair defective boards to the component level using schematics and test equipment.
• Document failure modes, repair actions and test results accurately in logs or databases.
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers and other diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring board-level failures.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to production, engineering and quality teams.
• Interpret and work from schematics, layout diagrams, test procedures and assembly drawings.
• Assist in the development and improvement of test processes and troubleshooting guides.
