Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks a hands-on Pastry Chef cum Café Manager to lead both pastry production and café operations. The role requires managing staff, inventory, promotions, and profitability, with equal comfort in front- and back-of-house functions.

The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, staff scheduling, onboarding, and supplier coordination, while ensuring quality pastry items, hygiene, and cost control are maintained. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Pastry Chef with cafe/F&B operations or management considered a plus.
• Strong leadership and people management skills are essential.
• Good understanding of costing, inventory control, and basic P&L.
• Creative flair for menu development and promotional ideas.
• Ability to multitask between kitchen production and business operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily café operations, ensuring smooth front-of-house and back-of-house coordination.
• Manage staff scheduling, performance, training, and discipline.
• Handle recruitment support and onboarding of new café staff.
• Oversee inventory management — stock levels, ordering, wastage control, and supplier coordination.
• Manage costing and pricing of menu items to maintain healthy margins.
• Delegate daily tasks and supervise staff to ensure smooth execution.
• Develop and drive promotional ideas and campaigns with marketing to grow footfall and sales.
• Monitor sales performance, prepare basic reports, and flag issues to management.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards (SOP, food safety regulations).
• Handle customer feedback and resolve service issues professionally.
• Manage cash handling, POS operations, and daily reconciliation.
• Liaise with management on operational decisions, budgeting, and business improvement.
