Job summary

Wasco Process Engineering in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor is seeking a passionate and experienced Painting Inspector to join our growing team. You will perform detailed inspections of surface prep, coating application, and painting systems in line with client specs and international standards.

The role requires a Diploma or Vocational Certificate, at least 3 years in coating inspection, and certifications such as IMM II, NACE I, SSPC PCI I or FROSIO II.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Vocational Certificate or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in coating/painting inspection.
• Experience in oil & gas, fabrication, pressure vessel, process equipment or related industries is an added advantage.
• Must possess at least one of the following certifications: IMM Coating Inspector Level II; NACE International Certified Coating Inspector Level I; SSPC PCI Level I; FROSIO Level II.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections for surface preparation, coating application, and painting systems in accordance with client specifications, approved procedures, and international standards (ISO 12944, NACE, SSPC).
• Use inspection tools such as Elcometer 456 for DFT checks, PosiTector for environmental monitoring, replica tape for surface profile measurement, and pull-off adhesion testers in accordance with ASTM D4541.
• Verify surface cleanliness (ISO 8501-1), surface profile (ISO 8503-4), and environmental conditions before coating application.
• Inspect primer, intermediate, and topcoat application in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Verify calibration of inspection instruments and maintain records.
• Record inspection data in daily reports, NCR logs, and final dossiers.
• Witness adhesion, holiday, and curing tests as required.
• Report non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and safe coating practices.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and project requirements.
