Job summary

Steelcase Manufacturing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an Operations Engineer (Packaging & Coating). You will design packaging solutions and support coating/painting processes, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize performance.

You will lead cost reductions, document technical work, and drive sustainability across packaging and coating operations within our Malaysia plant.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials or related engineering field.
4–5 years in industrial/manufacturing or operations engineering roles.
Experience developing and improving manufacturing or production processes.
Experience with metal/plastic coating or painting processes.
Experience creating/interpreting technical drawings with CAD tools.
Experience using SAP or ERP for engineering/BOM tasks.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on manufacturing/quality challenges.

Responsibilities

Designing and developing packaging solutions for products, including cartons and cushioning.
Conducting packaging evaluations, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
Supporting development, validation, and improvement of coating/painting processes.
Collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and suppliers.
Leading cost reduction, process improvement, and sustainability initiatives.
Creating and maintaining engineering documentation such as drawings, BOMs, and specs.
Troubleshooting manufacturing, packaging, and coating issues with corrective actions.
