Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre in Selangor offers a full-time Optometrist role focused on comprehensive eye care. You will conduct eye examinations, diagnose ocular conditions, and document patient history to guide treatment plans.

You will provide counselling, prescribe appropriate visual aids, and perform pre- and post-operative care for cataract and LASIK patients, while supporting ophthalmologists during procedures and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry.
• Valid APC and registered with the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC).
• 3–5 years of clinical eye care experience.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic assessments to identify vision problems, ocular abnormalities and eye diseases.

Provide clinical advice, prescribe appropriate visual aids, and document patients' medical and ocular history, findings, diagnosis and treatment plans.

Provide counselling and pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye procedures, including cataract and laser vision correction.

Support ophthalmologists during LASIK/Laser Vision Correction surgeries and refer patients to appropriate specialists when required.

Work closely with ophthalmologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality and effective patient care.

Support the daily operations of the Eye Centre, including maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment and responding to emergency situations in accordance with hospital protocols.

Assist in training, supervising and guiding junior team members.

Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain high standards of patient care.

Keep clinical knowledge and professional skills up to date through relevant training and development.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry.
• At least 3–5 years of clinical eye care experience.
• Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) & registered with the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
