Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking an Optometrist to join the Eye Centre. You will perform comprehensive eye examinations, assess ocular health, and contribute to patient care plans in collaboration with ophthalmologists and nurses.

With 3–5 years of clinical experience, you will educate patients, support pre- and post-operative care, and participate in quality initiatives to maintain high standards of safety and service delivery in a busy private hospital setting.

Job description

Comprehensive Eye Examinations: Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity, ocular health and identify potential vision abnormalities or eye conditions.

Clinical Assessment & Management: Evaluate patients' eye conditions, provide appropriate clinical advice, recommend visual aids and determine the need for further medical referrals.

Pre & Post-Operative Care: Conduct pre- and post-operative assessments, provide patient counselling and support patients undergoing eye surgeries, including cataract and laser vision correction procedures.

Patient Care & Counselling: Educate patients on their eye conditions, treatment options and appropriate eye care practices.

Diagnostic Procedures: Perform relevant ocular assessments and diagnostic tests to support clinical evaluations and patient management.

Ophthalmology Collaboration: Work closely with ophthalmologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient assessment, management and continuity of care.

Operational & Quality Support: Support the daily operations of the Eye Centre, maintain clinical equipment readiness and participate in departmental quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Job Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree in Optometry.

Registered with the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC) and possess a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).

3–5 years of working experience in the clinical eye care industry.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach towards patient care.
