Job summary

Samtec Inc. in Malaysia’s Penang is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing/Process Engineer to serve as the primary technical and quality liaison among Samtec, the contract manufacturing partner, and internal teams to resolve issues and support production.

The role focuses on process development, qualification planning, DOE, SPC, and continuous improvement initiatives; you will lead audits, drive CAPAs, and ensure compliance with Samtec QMS and customer requirements, with travel about 15%.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing and process engineering in high-volume production.
• Knowledge of process development, equipment qualification, and product transfers.
• Strong problem-solving using data analysis, DOE, and root cause methodologies.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
• Excellent communication on the factory floor and willingness to travel ~15%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical and quality liaison among Samtec, CM partner, and internal teams.
• Provide first-level engineering and quality support for processes, yield, and nonconformances; lead containment and corrective actions.
• Lead new product introductions, process transfers, and production ramp activities with qualification planning and training oversight.
• Standardize manufacturing best practices and maintain technical documentation to ensure Samtec compliance.
• Drive process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, PFMEA; monitor KPIs and CAPA effectiveness.
• Plan and conduct audits of contract manufacturer operations; document findings and verify closure.
• Review and approve process changes ensuring compliance with standards and customer requirements.
