Job summary

Samtec Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer CM Support (Optic) in Penang to act as the primary technical liaison between Samtec, the contract manufacturer, and internal teams. You will support production, troubleshoot process, and drive corrective actions for high-volume optic-related manufacturing.

The role involves leading new product introductions, process transfers, and ramp activities, while standardizing best practices and maintaining QC documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing and process engineering.
• Strong data analysis, DOE, and root-cause methodologies.
• Willingness to travel ~15% to support training and operations.
• Able to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between Samtec, CM partner, and internal teams to resolve issues and support production.
• Provide first-level engineering and quality support for process, equipment, yield, and nonconformance issues; lead containment and corrective actions.
• Lead new product introductions, process transfers, and production ramp activities with qualification planning and validation.
• Standardize manufacturing best practices and maintain technical documentation including SOPs and QA standards.
• Improve quality, yield, throughput, reliability, and cost using Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and CI methods.
• Review and approve process changes in line with Samtec standards and customer requirements.
• Plan audits of CM operations and document findings with corrective action closure.
• Monitor CM KPIs and lead business/quality review meetings with stakeholders.
• Lead regular reviews to communicate production issues, QA concerns, and continuous improvement priorities.
