Job summary

FLS Group is seeking an experienced Port & Heavy Lift Operations Supervisor to oversee project cargo operations at Malaysian ports and field locations. The role is hands-on and requires on-site presence to supervise heavy-lift, oversized, and OOG cargo safely and efficiently, coordinating with customers, port authorities, stevedores, crane operators, and vessel crews.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in port operations, project logistics, heavy-lift, breakbulk or OOG cargo operations.
• Strong practical experience at Malaysian ports.
• Good understanding of heavy-lift and oversized cargo handling.
• Experience coordinating stevedores, crane operators, riggers, trucking companies and other subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of lifting operations and safe cargo handling.
• Ability to read and understand lifting plans, cargo plans and method statements.
• Good knowledge of port safety procedures and operational requirements.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend ports and project sites to supervise day-to-day cargo operations.
• Coordinate loading, discharge, shifting, lifting and movement of heavy-lift and OOG cargo.
• Supervise stevedoring and cargo-handling activities and ensure operations follow method statements and lifting plans.
• Check cargo condition, dimensions, weights, lifting points and cargo documentation.
• Monitor crane, lifting and handling operations and ensure correct equipment use.
• Coordinate movement of cargo between vessel, terminal, storage area and trucks.
• Ensure cargo is positioned, secured and protected during handling and transport.
• Identify operational issues and resolve them with relevant parties.
• Review lifting plans, cargo plans, stowage arrangements and method statements.
• Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, stevedores and heavy-haulage contractors.
• Verify lifting gear, spreader beams, slings and shackles are suitable and available.
• Monitor lifting operations and maintain exclusion zones and controls.
• Assist with planning and execution of complex lifts and OOG movements.
• Coordinate with vessel crew and terminal personnel during loading and discharge operations.
• Take photographs and maintain detailed operational records and reports.
• Prepare daily operational and cargo handling reports.
