Job summary

Agilent in Penang seeks an NPI Lead / MSAT System Engineer to optimize mechanical and mechatronics assemblies, PCAs, modules and full products, translating R&D into scalable manufacturing.

You will own platform-level processes, collaborate with R&D, Quality and Global Manufacturing, drive DfX, technology transfer, and industrialization while ensuring cost, quality and supply chain robustness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in NPI / MSAT or similar roles.
• Strong English communication and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Experience with CAD, PCBA design, and DoE/FMEA approaches.

Job Description

To strengthen our Global Operations Manufacturing Science And Technology (MSAT) team, we are looking for a NPI Lead / MSAT System Engineer responsible for optimized design and manufacturing of mechanical and mechatronics assemblies, PCAs, modules, and complete products.

In this role, you will act as the technical liaison between R&D, Quality and Manufacturing, translating product innovation into scalable, high-performance Agilent's products manufacturing in Penang site: mainly Spectroscopy, but not limited. You will contribute to process industrialization, technology transfer, and platform standardization, while working in a global, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as central Global Operations technical interface in NPI, representing the manufacturing operations and coordinating stakeholders.
• Primary counterpart to R&D Technical Lead and business team.
• Lead the transfer of new products from development into mass production.
• Ensure application of Design-for-Excellence (DfX) across cost, manufacturability, quality, and automation.
• Collaborate with R&D on product development, validation, and manufacturability readiness.
• Influence design to ensure scalability, supply chain and process robustness, and manufacturability.
• Define system-level manufacturing concepts, test strategies, and industrialization approach.
• Lead prototype ramp, reliability validation, and evaluate launch readiness.

Technology Platform Engineering

• Serve as Technical Owner on critical & key platform technology processes.
• Ensures Value Creation across cost, quality, reliability, delivery, supply robustness, and global product engineering strategy.
• Lead root cause investigations and systemic corrective actions for complex & cross-functional technical issues escalated from the factory team.
• Establish risk-based qualification strategies and action plans for new step-function improvements.
• Contribute to platform-level process standards and best practices.
• Support development of scalable architectures for assembly, calibration, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Own critical mechanical and/or mechatronic assemblies, printed circuit assemblies (PCA/PCBS), modules, and complete products within the MSAT platform team.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Global Manufacturing, Product Marketing, Global Supply Chain, QSAT and other engineering groups.
• For NPI (New Product Introduction) projects, serve as the central Global Operations point of contact, coordinating cross-functional Operations stakeholders and acting as the primary interface to the R&D Technical Lead and business team.
• Contribute as a key member of cross-functional project teams to transfer new products from development into serial production.
• Apply Design-for-Excellence (DfX) principles to address requirements for quality, cost, manufacturability, assembly, and automation in NPI projects.
• Lead cross-functional value creation initiatives by leveraging manufacturing technologies, process innovation, and technical expertise to enhance product quality, manufacturability, scalability, and cost competitiveness.
• Innovation champion for impactful improvements to the Agilent manufacturing system. Excellence in sharing innovations for scalability across Agilent's factories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant 8+ years experience in a comparable engineering role.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Proven strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Solid understanding of complex technical systems and related development and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with technical drawings and CAD tools.
• Experience in PCBA design, manufacturing and qualification processes.
• Knowledge of engineering methods such as FMEA, DoE, DfX, Value Engineering (VE) or similar approaches is a plus.
• Structured, goal-oriented, and self-driven way of working.
• Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, especially in international and cross-functional settings.
• Strong ownership mindset and readiness to take responsibility for technical decisions and project outcomes.
