Job summary

The British American Tobacco Group in Selangor, Malaysia, is seeking a non-management NPI Executive to drive end-to-end product development, code creation, and cross-functional collaboration for new launches.

You will monitor system readiness, manage ECRs, costs, and data quality, and coordinate with Product Development, Packaging, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to keep launch timelines.

This role offers the opportunity to influence multiple functions and grow with BAT's global operations.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in project management or related disciplines (PDM, marketing, analytics, planning, supply chain, or procurement).
  • Strong English communication, SAP experience, and proficiency with MS Office and Power BI.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, take ownership, and drive deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail, strong collaboration and stakeholder management across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end product and material code creation for new product launches.
  • Monitor system readiness activities including code creation, recipe readiness, product costing, and data quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and external partners to resolve bottlenecks and ensure project achievements.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate task execution, monitor schedules and costs, manage risks and changes.
  • Maintain governance and communication with regular updates and reporting of critical issues.

BAT DBS has an exciting opportunity for a NPI Executive in Selangor, Malaysia

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

Reports To: Regional NPI Capability Manager

Reporting Level: Individual Contributor

Geographic Scope: APMEA + Global Travel Retail

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate end-to-end product and material code creation for new product launches, ensuring products can be planned, produced, costed, ordered, and sold across entities, while managing Engineering Change Records (ECRs) that govern code creation activities across multiple business functions.
  • Monitor and drive system readiness activities, including code creation, recipe readiness, product costing, and data quality, proactively identifying risks, delays, and issues, and ensuring timely resolution and communication of customer concerns to maintain project launch timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and external partners, including NPI Project Managers, Product Development, Packaging, Data Specialists, Factory, Costing, Quality, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning teams, to acquire required inputs, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure project achievements are reached according to plan.
  • Manage projects with simple to moderate scope by developing project plans, coordinating task execution, monitoring schedules, costs, risks, scope changes, and deliverables, while ensuring compliance with established project management standards, guidelines, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain strong project governance and communication, including active participation in project meetings, daily tracking of system readiness activities, weekly review of BAT project management tools, accurate records management, regular updates to collaborators, continuous process improvement initiatives, and timely reporting of critical customer concerns to management.

What are we looking for?

  • Preferably 2-3 years of experience in Project Management, Product Data Management, Marketing, Analytics, Planning, Supply Chain, or Procurement. Fresh graduates may also be considered if they can demonstrate relevant skills and capabilities through academic projects, internships, extracurricular activities, or volunteer work.
  • Demonstrate strong technical proficiency, including advanced English communication skills (written and verbal), experience with SAP, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI), and the ability to leverage AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Gemini for productivity and project optimization.
  • Exhibit a high level of ownership and initiative, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, monitor progress, follow overdue actions, and drive deliverables forward independently with minimal supervision.
  • Apply strong analytical, critical thinking, and time management skills, effectively identifying risks, prioritizing tasks, performing under pressure, and communicating complex or technical information clearly and concisely to support management decision-making.
  • Maintain excellent organizational and collaborator management capabilities. Ensure accurate records management and meet audit requirements. Pay close attention to detail across multiple projects. Build collaborative relationships and influence collaborators at all organizational levels without direct authority.
