NPI Engineer, Power Semiconductors: From Design to Production

Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is partnering with an established semiconductor firm to recruit an experienced NPI Engineer. You will lead New Product Introduction for power semiconductor products, from initial development through manufacturing introduction, ensuring feasibility and production readiness.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and commercial teams, provide technical support, drive cost reduction, and help qualify and transition products into production.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Materials Science or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience within the semiconductor industry.
• Proven experience in NPI, preferably involving power semiconductor products and IC packaging processes.
• Good understanding of semiconductor assembly processes, packaging design and manufacturing feasibility.
• Experience supporting major semiconductor customers or working on customer-driven NPI projects would be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with BOM management, product costing and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong technical problem-solving, stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills.
• Good command of English, with the ability to communicate effectively with international stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPI activities for power semiconductor products from development to manufacturing introduction.
• Evaluate packaging designs and processes for quality and production readiness.
• Serve as technical liaison between customers and internal teams.
• Provide technical support and resolve engineering challenges during development.
• Conduct cost evaluations, BOM reviews and process assessments to cut costs.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction across processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify and transition products into production.
