Job summary

SCJ Engineering (M) SDN. BHD. in Malaysia seeks an NPI Engineer to bridge sales, client needs, design and production, managing new custom projects from prototyping through trial runs to mass production.

You will ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and strict adherence to quality and delivery timelines, collaborating closely with CAD, CNC, sheet metal, welding, QA and assembly teams to drive ramp-up and ECO implementation.

Responsibilities

• Review customer RFQs, 2D/3D drawings, and CAD models to evaluate technical feasibility, material selection, and manufacturability (DFM - Design for Manufacturing)
• Coordinate fabrication and assembly of first-article prototypes (CNC parts, sheet metal components, or automation frames) and conduct initial trial runs
• Define manufacturing processes, routing, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products; establish Bill of Materials (BOM) and work instructions for the shop floor
• Work closely with the Sales, CNC Machining, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, Quality Assurance (QA), and Assembly teams to resolve technical bottlenecks and ensure smooth production ramp-up
• Identify, design, or source necessary jigs, fixtures, and tooling required for new product fabrication and assembly
• Monitor project milestones, cycle times, and production costs to ensure new products meet budgetary and on-time delivery targets
• Implement engineering changes (ECOs) systematically, track pilot production feedback, and optimize processes for yield improvement and cost reduction

Job description

As an NPI Engineer at SCJ Engineering, you will serve as the technical bridge between sales/clients, design, and production.
