Job summary

Maxis is seeking a Network Cybersecurity Intern in Subang Hi-Tech, Malaysia, to gain hands-on experience safeguarding network infrastructure and supporting cybersecurity operations.

You will work with experienced professionals on real-world security monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident reporting within a fast-paced environment, using SIEM tools and patch management processes.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Basic understanding of network protocols, network security, and cybersecurity concepts
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanning tools, or network monitoring systems is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a cybersecurity environment
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting regular vulnerability scans on networks and systems.
• Analyse findings and support remediation and risk mitigation efforts.
• Support monitoring of network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools.
• Assist in identifying, escalating, and responding to potential security threats.
• Track security patches and updates to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
• Support patch deployment and verification activities.
• Maintain security documentation, incident reports, and dashboards.
• Assist in analysing security data and generating reports using tools such as Splunk.
• Support security awareness initiatives and internal training programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Vulnerability Assessment

• Assist in conducting regular vulnerability scans on networks and systems.
• Analyse findings and support remediation and risk mitigation efforts.

Security Monitoring & Detection

• Support monitoring of network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools.
• Assist in identifying, escalating, and responding to potential security threats.

Patch & Configuration Management

• Track security patches and updates to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
• Support patch deployment and verification activities.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain security documentation, incident reports, and dashboards.
• Assist in analysing security data and generating reports using tools such as Splunk.

Security Awareness & Support

• Support security awareness initiatives and internal training programmes.
• Assist in promoting best practices for network and information security.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of network protocols, network security, and cybersecurity concepts.
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanning tools, or network monitoring systems is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a cybersecurity environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
