Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Languages / Linguistics / Translation; Healthcare-related field adds advantage.
• 1–3 years interpreting/translation experience in healthcare preferred.
• Proficiency in at least one foreign language besides English and/or Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time verbal interpretation between patients and healthcare professionals during consultations, diagnosis discussions, treatment explanations, admissions, discharges, and emergencies.
• Translate written medical and administrative documents (consent forms, medical reports, discharge summaries, patient education materials) while preserving accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support informed consent and treatment communication to enhance patient safety and understanding.
• Coordinate interpretation needs with Health Tourism, Front Office, Nursing and Clinical teams; maintain language-service schedules and respond to demand.
• Maintain records of interpretation sessions as required and ensure compliance with hospital policies, privacy, and data protection.
• Contribute to KPJ’s multilingual health-tourism initiatives and bridge language gaps in clinical and non-clinical settings.
