Job summary

Lestari Solaris Sdn Bhd, via Jora Malaysia, seeks a Mining Engineer for a Rare Earth Element (REE) project in Shah Alam. You will plan and execute ISL and conventional mining activities, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency from exploration to production.

Collaborating with geology, environmental, and project teams, you will develop mine plans, schedules, and reports, monitor performance, and contribute to site inspections and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining or related engineering field.
• 2–5 years of mining experience including mine planning or mineral extraction.
• Familiarity with ISL or REE mining operations an advantage.
• Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with mining planning tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop mine plans and production schedules for REE operations.
• Assist design and planning of ISL wells and recovery systems.
• Prepare production targets, equipment needs, and schedules.
• Monitor performance, recovery, dilution, and efficiency.
• Support ISL leaching operations and site compliance.
• Produce technical reports, cost estimates, and procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors to follow approved plans.
• Assist with regulatory submissions and inspections.

MINING ENGINEER – RARE EARTH ELEMENT (REE) PROJECT

About the Role

We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Rare Earth Element (REE) mining project team. This is a mid-level engineering role supporting the planning, development, and execution of both In-Situ Leaching (ISL) and conventional mining activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the mining, environmental, and project management teams to ensure mining activities are technically sound, safe, efficient, and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.

This role provides an opportunity to be directly involved in the development of an emerging REE mining project, from exploration and mine planning through to production and operational optimisation.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop and support mine planning and production schedules for REE mining operations.
• Assist in the design and planning of ISL operation, including well layout, production areas, injection and recovery systems.
• Prepare mine plans, production targets, equipment requirements, and operational schedules.
• Monitor mining performance, production volumes, recovery, dilution, and operational efficiency.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of ISL leaching operations, including solution flow, wellfield performance, and production monitoring.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports, mine plans, work programmes, cost estimates, and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors and site personnel to ensure mining activities are carried out according to approved plans and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with mine safety, environmental, land, and regulatory requirements.
• Support site inspections, technical assessments, risk assessments, and operational troubleshooting.
• Analyse operational data and recommend improvements to productivity, resource recovery, and cost efficiency.
• Assist in the preparation of documentation required for mining approvals, permits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
• Work closely with the project team during mine development, commissioning, production, and operational optimisation.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in mining, mine planning, quarrying, or mineral extraction.
• Experience in REE mining, In-Situ Leaching (ISL), ionic adsorption clay (IAC), or similar operations will be an advantage.
• Understanding of mining, resource estimation, grade control, and mineral recovery.
• Good understanding of occupational safety, environmental management, and mining regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in, mine planning software, or other relevant engineering software will be an advantage.
• Willingness to work at project sites and travel as required.
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin would be an advantage.
