Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Mine Engineer to supervise daily mining operations at remote sites in Malaysia. You will oversee sand, clay and tin ore extraction while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance and production targets are met.

The ideal candidate holds a mining degree with 3–5 years of experience and demonstrates strong leadership, communication and analytical skills. This role requires travel to field sites and collaboration with geologists and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of mining industry experience.
• Knowledge of Malaysian mining regulations and environmental requirements.
• Proficient in mining software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily mining operations involving sand, clay and tin ore extraction.
• Monitor production targets and ensure project schedule adherence.
• Coordinate with site supervisors, equipment operators, geologists and contractors.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports.
• Investigate delays and implement corrective actions.
• Work with geologists to interpret geological data and resource models.
• Verify excavation areas based on geological mapping and exploration results.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, Mineral Development Act, EQA and other regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and risk assessments.
• Assist with EMP compliance, erosion control and rehabilitation requirements.
• Monitor equipment productivity and operating costs.
• Review drone surveys, GPS surveys and volume calculations.
• Prepare technical reports, mine plans and production summaries.

Requirement

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mining industry.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian mining regulations and environmental requirements.
• Proficient in any mining software.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Willing to work at remote mining project sites and travel when required.

Responsibility

• Supervise daily mining operations involving sand, clay, and tin ore extraction.
• Monitor daily production targets and ensure achievement of project schedules.
• Coordinate with site supervisors, equipment operators, geologists, and contractors.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Investigate production delays and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with geologists to interpret geological data and resource models.
• Verify excavation areas based on geological mapping and exploration results.
• Monitor ore quality and material classification.
• Ensure all mining activities comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Mineral Development Act, Environmental Quality Act, and other applicable Malaysian regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with approved Environmental Management Plans (EMP), erosion and sediment control measures, and rehabilitation requirements.
• Ensure mining operations comply with approvals and permits issued by relevant authorities, including State Land and Mines Office, Department of Environment (DOE), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Local Authorities and other relevant government agencies
• Assist in preparing reports required by regulatory authorities.
• Monitor productivity and performance of excavators and other mining equipment.
• Monitor mining costs and operational expenditures such as equipment utilization, and operational costs.
• Review drone survey data, GPS surveys, and volume calculations.
• Ensure extracted sand, clay, and tin ore meet project specifications.
• Coordinate sampling and laboratory testing where required.
• Monitor contamination control and material handling procedures.
• Prepare technical reports, mine plans, production summaries, and operational analyses.
• Maintain mining records, inspection reports, and engineering documentation.
• Present operational updates to management.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Support implementation of ISO Management Systems where applicable.
