Job summary

Beratung Consultants Private Limited, a firm delivering engineering design, commissioning management and sustainability services, seeks a Commissioning Engineer for a Malaysia Data Center project. You will be stationed on-site for construction and manage design and commissioning tasks across Electrical, HVAC, Fire and Plumbing systems with a focus on ensuring quality and timely delivery.

We expect 3+ years of experience in related projects, strong knowledge of MEP design standards, and ability

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and LV system projects.
• Experience in design, construction and commissioning of Electrical/HVAC/Fire/Plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MEP design project execution per client requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate with design and site teams; provide input to design documents.
• Prepare technical specs, data sheets, schedules, BOQ as required.
• Attend design meetings with client and conduct site visits.
• Witness testing and commissioning of MEP systems, report quality issues.

Role Description

Carryout MEP Design project execution & execute the services assigned as per the client requirements & timelines. Manage day-to-day project matters related to the design services support that’s required to be extended to design team & site project team. It is required to be stationed at site for a duration of construction & execute following responsibilities:

Understand the design & extend support necessary in terms of gathering inputs from client & site team to aid design works for the project.

Support in preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, schedules, material take off & BOQ for all above.

Understand & be familiar with Sizing of support systems for all above etc.

Understanding of Design standards & local codes.

Have a understanding on Load analysis for structural loading or slab strengthening as well as other critical aspects of the project which would be impacting planning, design & construction works.

Have an understanding on Head load / Electrical load list indicating critical loads, MD calculations and single line diagrams / HVAC schematics.

Support in preparation of DBR & Concept design reports for MEP Systems.

Review & understand design drawings BOQs GFC Specifications etc as prepared by the internal design team. Provide inputs for improving design efficiencies site constrains, etc

Extend support in preparation of Commissioning method statements, day to day commissioning support to site team for executing CxA responsibilities.

Coordinate with project team on day-to-day basis for project interactions any systems clashes, or site constrains in terms of MEP Systems & rely the same back to design team for updating necessary design documentations.

• Act as a point of contact for design support at site level & support & perform following responsibilities
• Review technical submittals and provide comments as necessary on time
• Review & provide inputs for preparing & co-ordinating RCP layouts
• Attend necessary design meetings with the client
• Carryout necessary site visits for addressing any design / co-ordination issues
• Witness Testing & Commissioning of MEP systems
• Relay back any design issues to internal design team & get the same addressed as per project requirements
• Identify quality issues & prepare site quality reports & maintain a quality issue log
• Prepare & maintain all the records of Design & Development RFI & issue trackers as raised by any project members
• Check all the AS-BUILT & O&M documentations
• Prepare final list of Sign off on Project closure reports

Qualification:

Diploma / Graduate from Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Software Skills:

Autocad, MS Office, HAP, Dialux, CG lux, MS projects

Experience:

3+ Years of experience in Projects / Operations / Contacts / Design of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire, LV & other Systems.

Individual should have in depth knowledge on design, construction & commissioning of Electrical / HVAC / Fire / Plumbing designing. Understanding of sizing & various applications:

• Electrical - Distribution systems involving, Substations, Transformers, HV/LV Switchgear Panels, Lightning Arresters, Protection System, PCC, MCC, Diesel Generators etc. including Protection and relay coordination, short circuit study and voltage drop calculations on cables, bus ducts by conventional method and also by software. Lighting requirement calculations conventional and by special software such as Dialux, etc. using AutoCAD drawings. Earthing calculations for electrical system and for lightning protection.
• HVAC – Understanding of Ducting, Piping, VRV, Chillers, Split Systems, Chilled water, Cooling towers, Radiant Cooling, AHU’s FCU’s, Pumps, Exhaust Fans, Smoke Ventilation, basement Ventilation, Fresh Air, etc. Understanding of HVAC design software’s for HEAT load / Duct sizing.
• Plumbing – Water Distribution systems, RWH system, Water Purification – WTP, STP, Storage Tanks, Hydro-pneumatic Systems, Irrigation Systems, Water fixtures, etc.
• BMS / PLC IO calculations, SCADA System integration / interfacing with other services such as HVAC, Fire Alarm, Security, CCTV Cameras, Lighting, Electrical, Data, Voice and other communication Systems etc.
