Job summary

Colgate-Palmolive Company invites an Engineering Intern (Mechanical Maintenance) to join our Reliability Engineering team in Malaysia. You’ll gain hands-on experience with maintenance planning, equipment troubleshooting, and plant reliability, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians.

You will engage in preventive and condition-based maintenance across packaging lines, perform root-cause analysis on breakdowns, and contribute to OEE improvements while learning SAP PM and CMMS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Mechatronics/Industrial).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and P&IDs.
• Familiarity with structured problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
• Proficient with Google Workspace or MS Office.
• Safety-conscious and able to work hands-on in a dynamic shop floor environment.
• Available for a full-time internship for 3 to 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist reliability engineers in executing Scheduled Preventive Maintenance and Condition-Based Monitoring on filling, packaging, and compounding equipment.
• Shadow senior maintenance technicians during teardowns, overhauls, alignments, and seal replacements.
• Log, track, and update maintenance work orders and spare parts in the plant CMMS (SAP PM).
• Support spare parts inventory audits and organize mechanical storeroom areas.
• Participate in breakdown investigations using structured problem-solving methods to identify failure modes.
• Track downtime data to support OEE improvement initiatives on high-speed lines.
• Assist in bottleneck identification, vibration checks, and lubrication route optimization.
• Draft and standardize mechanical SOPs, AM checklists, and SPLs for operators and technicians.
• Assist in equipment qualification workflows (IQ/OQ) for new or modified machinery.
• Read P&IDs and mechanical drawings and cross-reference with plant layouts.
