Job summary

DayOne is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, installation, and operation of mechanical systems inside our state-of-the-art data centres. You will ensure HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps and compressors run reliably while upholding safety and efficiency standards.

You will mentor a team of assistant facilities engineers and technicians, coordinate 24/7 operations, and drive continuous improvement through preventative maintenance and vendor collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of data centre mechanical infrastructure (HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors).
• Proven experience in managing technical teams and 24/7 operations.
• Excellent problem solving and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or similar are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within the data centres.
• Ensure all mechanical infrastructure (HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors) operates reliably and efficiently.
• Implement and maintain mechanical safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of assistant facilities engineers and technicians; coordinate 24/7 coverage.
• Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance; coordinate with vendors and contractors for upgrades.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot mechanical issues; collaborate with other teams for integrated system performance.
• Support strategic initiatives to enhance mechanical system performance and business growth.
