Job summary

UNITED BC TEAM SDN BHD in Penang seeks a Mechanical Designer to develop 3D models and detailed mechanical designs for customised automation machinery. You will translate concepts into practical designs and prepare precise drawings and BOMs for manufacturing stages.

The role requires 3–5 years of mechanical design experience, proficiency in SolidWorks, and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks while coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in customised automation machinery or equipment.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and 3D mechanical modelling.
• Able to prepare engineering drawings, assembly drawings and BOM.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, fabrication, machining, tolerances and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and mechanical designs for customised automation machines and equipment using SolidWorks.

• Select suitable mechanical components, materials and design solutions based on project requirements.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, part drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and comply with engineering standards and project specifications.
• Maintain proper design files, revisions and documentation.
• Participate in design reviews with the Mechanical Design Lead and project team.
• Identify potential design issues and recommend practical improvements.
• Work with Project Engineers, Production and other relevant teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and timelines.
• Support machine assembly, testing, commissioning and customer buy-off activities when required.

Job description

You will support the design and development of customised automation machinery and equipment. The role involves preparing mechanical designs, 3D models and engineering drawings, ensuring that designs meet project requirements, technical specifications and delivery timelines. You will work closely with the Mechanical Design Lead, Project Engineers and other engineering teams to turn machine concepts into practical and manufacturable designs.

Key responsibilities

Develop 3D models and mechanical designs for customised automation machines and equipment using SolidWorks

Translate engineering concepts, customer requirements and project specifications into practical mechanical designs

Select suitable mechanical components, materials and design solutions based on project requirements

Prepare detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, part drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM)

Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and comply with engineering standards and project specifications

About you
